What Peter did Next

Brethren, you will be aware from our SW, Bro Giles recent report, on the Mark Benevolent Festival in Norwich, that we did not make a railway trip whilst he was there. On Sunday, however, my railway gene was satisfied by a 3/4 hour trip on the Bure Valley narrow line from Aylesham to Wroxham. From where we went on a 2 hour cruise on the Broads.

To our astonishment Wroxham, a small village/town, was full of tourists, boaters families on holiday or weekend breaks. I have never seen so many boats in one place!

On Monday, before our return, we went to the Bressingham Steam museum. Yes--- you've guessed it, another railway. Plus a very interesting "Dad's Army" exhibition, (one episode was filmed at Bressingham). Then a steam driven Gallopers' ride, on which as you can see I attempted to mimic Michael Portillo whom we had seen on a similar ride at Southport in May.

This roundabout had been rescued on a number of occasions --- the last from Spanish City in Whitley Bay (since derelict, but now being restored as I saw at the weekend when at Northumberland Pr GL). This ride originally had a famous "Gavioli" organ, removed on it's travels, now replaced with an old electric one complete with 'puppet' figures banging drums, cymbals and conducting. Of course it had no keyboard so I couldn't play it.
